Terms of Service

Welcome to NomadConnections.net - Find Your Tribe! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the NomadConnections website and mobile app (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are receiving a text message or email because someone listed you as an emergency contact, see Section 8.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering you confirm that you are and that the information you give is accurate.

2. Be a Good Tribe Member

Keep it kind and respectful. No bullying, harassment, spamming, or shady stuff. Do not post another person's private information, and do not share phone numbers, email addresses, real names, or social media handles in places where the rules forbid it (such as Camp Fires). Breaking those rules can result in strikes, suspension from rooms, or account removal.

3. Your Account

Use your real email and username (see our Sign Up form). You must activate your account from the email we send. Do not share your password, and you are responsible for activity on your account. If something seems off, reach out on our Contact page.

4. Content You Share

Your answers to questions, tags, and posts are yours, but by sharing them you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host and display them in the Service to connect you with your tribe. Keep it clean and legal. You are responsible for what you post, and we may remove content that breaks these Terms.

5. Activity Points and Trust Score

Earn Activity Points by engaging with questions and tribes. Your Trust Score grows with positive behavior. Do not game the system.

6. Paid Plans

Some features require a paid plan. Payments are processed by Stripe. Plans renew automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from your account or plan page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Except where required by law, fees already paid are not refunded. We may change plan features or prices with notice.

7. Smoke Signal Safety Check-Ins

Smoke Signal lets you set daily check-in deadlines and choose emergency contacts who are alerted if you miss one or press the Help button. By using it you agree that:

• You have permission. You may add someone as a contact only if they know you are adding them and agree to be your emergency contact. You may enter only phone numbers and email addresses that belong to people who have agreed, and you will not use Smoke Signal to send messages to people who do not want them.
• Contacts must accept. We send each email or text contact an invitation. A contact who has not accepted, has declined, or is inactive is never sent an alert.
• You consent to sharing your location with your contacts. An alert may include your username or the name you gave that contact, the time, and a map link to the GPS location captured when you checked in or pressed Help, or your last known location (including a background location if you turned it on). You can turn background tracking off, and remove any contact, at any time.
• It is not an emergency service. Smoke Signal does not contact police, fire, or medical responders, and it does not guarantee that an alert is sent, delivered, seen, or acted on. Alerts can be delayed or fail because of network, device, carrier, location, or service outages, or because a contact does not respond. Do not rely on Smoke Signal as your only safety measure. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
• Accuracy. Locations come from your device and may be approximate, outdated, or unavailable.
• Misuse. Do not press Help or trigger alerts falsely, and do not use Smoke Signal to track or monitor anyone who has not agreed. We may disable Smoke Signal for an account we believe is misusing it.

8. Text Messages (SMS Program Terms)

Program name: NomadConnections Smoke Signal Alerts. Operator: NomadConnections.

• Purpose. We send automated, transactional text messages to a mobile number a member listed as a Smoke Signal emergency contact: an invitation to accept, a reconfirmation about every 90 days, status notices (such as being marked inactive, or a member pausing or resuming check-ins), and safety alerts (a Help request or a missed check-in, with a map link when a location is available). We do not send marketing or promotional texts.
• Opt-in. You opt in by tapping the accept link in the invitation text. Until you accept, we send no alerts. By accepting, you agree to receive these automated texts at that number from NomadConnections. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. If you do not respond within 7 days you are marked inactive, and you may receive one notice with a link to reactivate.
• Opt-out. Reply STOP to any message to cancel. You may receive one final message confirming your opt-out, and after that you will get no more texts unless you opt in again. You can also use the decline link in the invitation, ask the member to remove you, or email support@nomadconnections.net.
• Help. Reply HELP or email support@nomadconnections.net.
• Frequency and cost. Message frequency varies with your member's activity; most contacts receive only an invitation and a reconfirmation about every 90 days, plus alerts when something happens. Message and data rates may apply.
• Carriers. Carriers and NomadConnections are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
• Privacy. See our Privacy Policy (Section 4). We do not sell or share mobile numbers or opt-in data with third parties for their marketing.

9. No Funny Business

Do not try to hack, scam, overload, or break our site; access another person's account; bypass rate limits or CAPTCHA; or use the Service for anything illegal. We will have to say goodbye if you do.

10. Our Content Is Ours

The questions, prompts, categories, page designs, and other original content on NomadConnections are owned by us and protected by copyright. They are not community-editable like your own answers. Please do not scrape, bulk-download, copy, republish, or use automated tools (bots, scripts, crawlers) to collect our questions or other site content, or use any of it to build a competing product or service. We monitor for this kind of activity and reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts, block access, and pursue legal action against anyone who does it.

11. Ending Your Account

You can delete your account at any time. It is hidden immediately and permanently removed after a 14-day grace period, during which you can cancel the deletion. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these Terms.

12. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not screen or verify members, and we are not responsible for what members say or do, online or in person. Use good judgment when connecting with people and meeting them.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NomadConnections and its owners and staff are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for harm resulting from a missed, delayed, or undelivered Smoke Signal alert, an inaccurate location, or the conduct of other members. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms. If we make a material change we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
